Want to Read Wednesday – Spinning Silver

Morning mortals! First W2RW of 2018?! How can this be? Time is speeding by so fast! What can one do but get excited about all the amazing books to read in 2018. I’ll be posting separately (if all goes to plan) about my reading goals for the year but today I’m talking about one book in particular I am very excited about.

Naomi Novik’s Uprooted is one of those books I think pretty much everyone has heard about. It’s somewhat divisive amongst readers, some people love it some people are really not here for it and some people don’t mind it but can’t fathom the hype.

Personally I had a huge amount of fun reading Uprooted, I’m not saying it’s perfect but it was one of the good books I’ve read in the last few years. So when I saw on twitter that Naomi was writing another book with this lovely cover I simply had to add it to my TBR. Current publication date is July 10th so we shall see how it goes later in the year!

Goodreads Summary:

Miryem is the daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders… but her father isn’t a very good one. Free to lend and reluctant to collect, he has loaned out most of his wife’s dowry and left the family on the edge of poverty–until Miryem steps in. Hardening her heart against her fellow villagers’ pleas, she sets out to collect what is owed–and finds herself more than up to the task. When her grandfather loans her a pouch of silver pennies, she brings it back full of gold.

But having the reputation of being able to change silver to gold can be more trouble than it’s worth–especially when her fate becomes tangled with the cold creatures that haunt the wood, and whose king has learned of her reputation and wants to exploit it for reasons Miryem cannot understand.

What say you? Is this something you’re looking forward to in 2018? Let me know in the comments below!
