Hello Humans! I was struggling to come up with something for today’s post, I’ve been so focused on reading the phenomenal pile of books I have built up around myself that I haven’t been looking into the future all that much. So I was pondering new releases and upcoming books and I realised there is one book which I absolutely have to read as soon as humanly possible.
Goodreads Summary:
Elizabeth Lavenza hasn’t had a proper meal in weeks. Her thin arms are covered with bruises from her “caregiver,” and she is on the verge of being thrown into the streets . . . until she is brought to the home of Victor Frankenstein, an unsmiling, solitary boy who has everything–except a friend.
Victor is her escape from misery. Elizabeth does everything she can to make herself indispensable–and it works. She is taken in by the Frankenstein family and rewarded with a warm bed, delicious food, and dresses of the finest silk. Soon she and Victor are inseparable.
But her new life comes at a price. As the years pass, Elizabeth’s survival depends on managing Victor’s dangerous temper and entertaining his every whim, no matter how depraved. Behind her blue eyes and sweet smile lies the calculating heart of a girl determined to stay alive no matter the cost . . . as the world she knows is consumed by darkness.

I cannot express in any language known to me how much I love The Conqueror’s saga. You can read my reviews of And I Darken and Now I Rise to get some idea. Kiersten White’s writing just captures my imagination, with Now I Rise I literally couldn’t put the book down, I had to keep reading. I love a retelling (we are in the year of ALL THE RETELLINGS after all) and a bit of an alternative history so this book seems perfect. I must say I’ve never read the original Frankenstein and might have to before picking this up (we read the script in school…why?). So that’s really two books I want to read!
Can September come sooner, please?

I am SO EXCITED for this book. I love Kiersten White and she’s so good at history and this sounds so incredible. I have also never read Frankenstein, but I am definitely going to read it before I read this book!
