August Wrap-Up

Hello Humans! Welcome to my August wrap-up post. As many of you will know this month was mostly taken up by travelling to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival with the cast of a musical (which I wrote the music for!). I really want to write a separate blog post for that so watch this space. But I did manage to do some reading and write some reviews this month so let’s explore!

Books Reviewed

I reviewed eighteen books this month, which is pretty good going! A lot of arcs this time around, which honestly is also what is coming in August (I’m sorry – people keep publishing books!). Here were my five most-read posts!

Ok fine, first was Eve of Man which I wrote back in May, so, while you can go and check that out, let’s see what else was read!

An amazing end to one of my favourite trilogies of the last few years. I’m so glad this series is getting the love it deserves.

mirage

One of the best books I’ve read so far this year, this book came at just the right time to kick me out of a slump – highly recommend reading it.

the knife of never letting go

This review got a lot of love, I think a good number of people wanted to share their experience of reading this particular book/series. I do still need to get to the others and now that I’ve been paid I just might be able to.

Smoke in the sun renee ahdieh

An unexpectedly good sequel, and a happy lesson in learning more about an author’s style over a period of time. When I first read Flame in the Mist I hadn’t read many other Renée Ahdieh titles and I didn’t really get it, but having now read this and The Wrath and the Dawn she is one of my favourites.

It wouldn’t be a Chain Interaction wrap-up post without a review of a book that bothered me in some way or another. This book missed the mark for me – which was pretty frustrating given that I’d heard some good things.

  1. I’ve been seeing Mirage everywhere and was kind of tempted to pick it up purely for how pretty the cover is. lol. And I’ve seen nothing but good reactions to it, so that certainly doesn’t hurt!
